Happy Pride Month from CHCI!
This June, organizations have a chance to show their commitment to providing access and opportunity for the LGBTQ+ community. But how do you go beyond a rainbow logo to create a lasting impact?
1. Action Speaks Louder Than Rainbows:
🌈 Review and strengthen your non-discrimination and anti-harassment policies to be explicitly inclusive of LGBTQ+ identities.
🌈 Offer LGBTQ+ employee resource groups (ERGs) a platform to share their voices and needs.
🌈 Partner with LGBTQ+ organizations for educational workshops or volunteer opportunities.
2. Make it Visible:
🌈 Offer Pride-themed merchandise with proceeds donated to LGBTQ+ causes.
🌈 Display the Pride flag at your office and/or include it in your logo for the month (did you see ours above?).
🌈 Include the option to list pronouns on employee and/or event name badges, email signatures, on social media, and in introductions.
3. Amplify LGBTQ+ Voices:
🌈 Feature employee stories about their experiences and contributions to the company either internally or on social media platforms.
🌈 Invite LGBTQ+ leaders to speak at events and/or mentor programs.
🌈 Showcase LGBTQ+-owned businesses through partnerships or vendor programs.4. Focus on Workplace Culture:
🌈 Educate your leadership team on LGBTQ+ issues and best practices.
🌈 Offer anti-bias and anti-discrimination training to ensure a respectful workplace environment.
🌈 Celebrate identities throughout the year, not just in June, and acknowledge how all the different identities within your team strengthen your organization.
