Senior Strategic Planner

Position Location: Washington DC Metro area

Responsibilities: Serves as the Senior Strategic Planner in a Strategic Planning Project in support of a federal agency. Will work with a government client to lead the senior managers and leaders through a strategic planning process to develop a five year strategic plan. Will lead a project team through an environmental scan, SWOT analysis (or similar) to identify key issues, questions, and choices to be addressed as part of the strategic planning effort.  Develop a series of goals and programs which describe the organization for the next five years. S/he has expert consulting capabilities and provides highly technical specialized guidance with regard to strategic planning. Senior Strategic Planner must be able to communicate with customer and understand customer requirements. S/he will have supervisory duties and may be a project/task lead. Senior Strategic Planner will prepare and deliver presentations to colleagues, subordinates, and government representatives.

Experience: The Senior Strategic Planner must have demonstrated knowledge / experience in the following:

  • 15 – 20+ years of experience
  • Recognized as an industry or specialty expert in the strategic planning, through exposure such as publications, research, teaching, or speeches.
  • Strategic planning experience in the federal government as a senior manager or senior executive
  • 10 years of experience in managing tasks or subtasks requiring Strategic Planning expertise.
  • Exceptional written and oral communications, including effective presentation skills.

Minimum Educational / Degree Requirements: Master’s Degree in Strategic Planning, Strategic Management, Business Administration, Political Science or other related field

Applicable Training or Certification Requirements: US Army School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) or other service equivalents, Strategic Planning Professional (SPP), War College or other related areas

Security Clearance: Security Clearance is desirable. Must be capable of passing Federal Department / Agency Suitability Review or Contractor Background Investigations

Travel: Local travel within DC Metro area will be required regularly. Domestic travel may be required.
