Data Scientist

Position Location: Washington DC Metro area

Responsibilities: Serves as the Data Scientist in support of a large federal agency. Under subject matter expert supervision, provides support to conducting studies and analysis related to workforce planning, strategic planning, and specific research. Provides specific expertise required for high-level analytical assignments focused on human capital data to support assessments, identification of trends, and provide forecasts of key human capital indicators. Provides research support to projects. May include database management, social media, graphics, and computer support. Provides meeting and event planning support.

Experience: The Data Scientist must have technical skills to support data analysis of large volumes of data. Must have demonstrated knowledge / experience in the following:

  • 10 years of experience
  • Background in data analysis / operations research projects
  • Understanding of analytic efforts to include:
    • Predictive analysis
    • Trend Analysis
    • Analysis of the current workforce supply
    • Analyses of Alternatives
    • Demand analysis – assess anticipated changes to future workload
    • Structure analysis; develop functional descriptions, and workforce maps
    • Succession planning
  • Exit / separation / attrition by position, nature of action, reason for leaving, band level, directorate, and RSNO
  • Expert in MS Office Suite.
  • Exceptional communications capability; written oral, and development of effective presentations


Minimum Educational / Degree Requirements: Master’s Degree in Economics, Probability, Mathematical Sciences, or related field

Applicable Training or Certification Requirements: Human Resources / Human Capital Management (Desired)

Security Clearance: Must be capable of passing Federal Department / Agency Suitability Review or Contractor Background Investigations

Travel: Local travel within DC Metro area will be required regularly
